About the Kelly Kettle Base Camp

The Kelly Kettle Base Camp stainless steel camp kettle boils approximately 54 oz of water at a time – that’s nine 6 oz. mugs of water for camp coffee, tea or hot cocoa. The Kettle will bring water to a boil within a matter of minutes. Suitable for use at your ‘base camp’, car camping, scout camps, picnics, hunting, outfitters outposts. The kettles are ideal for emergency preparedness kits, humanitarian aid stations, or anyone working in the forests or the great outdoors.

Fire base and drawstring carrying bag are included with each Kelly Kettle. The durable stainless steel fire base inverts up into the bottom of the kettle to make the unit as compact as possible for transport and storage.

The Green Whistle will sound a nice loud whistle to let you know when the water has boiled. Older Kelly Kettles may have an Orange Rubber or Cork Stopper. These MUST ALWAYS be removed before using the kettle. The Kettle must never be boiled with these older stoppers in the spout, but the new camping kettle with whistle can be left in while the water is boiling.

Add the Kelly Kettle Pot Support and Cook Set to your gear and prepare small amounts of food like noodles, rice, oatmeal, eggs, and hydrate food over the kettle while your water boils. Absolutely superb! Bought the Base Camp as my "Go To" stove for elk camp...hadn't had any experience with the Kelly Kettle but it intrigued me. All I can say is, "Wow!" Review by Elk Hunter (Posted on 1/4/2022)

I bought this to add to my emergency preparedness stuff because we lose power every winter. This makes a fast way to boil water for baby bottles, and hot drinks. I also bought the kit for the top so I can cook on top of it with a small pan. Which was great for heating canned foods, but also great for cooking up some eggs.
Later I bought the large hobo stove to use with it. I love that everything now comes in a kit!
Do I recommend this product? YES
How often do we use it? Every hike, camping trip and fishing trip.

Just wanted to let you know that it is that time of year to use my Kelly Kettle again. My wife and I "arm wrestle" to see who gets to fire it up first and wanted to say thanks for making a great product. Review by Brett (Posted on 5/26/2021)

Bought the Base Camp as my "go to" stove for elk camp...hadn't had any experience with the Kelly Kettle but it intrigued me. All I can say is, "Wow!" I never have to carry fuel and I've never run out!!!! This past elk season, I woke up one frosty morning and coffee/tea and breakfast was ready in a little over two minutes. If you haven't tried one, you owe it to yourself! Absolutely, fantastic. Review by LB (Posted on 11/17/2020)

This will make my 3 days with out help much easier to cope with. I did put together a kit so we could be comfortable if the worst happened. I also will be able to camp with hot water anywhere in the Pacific NW. There is dry wood limbs and cones anywhere you look. No more packing can or bottles of fuel. I did get the big one with add on's to cook with too. Review by Robert Lee Anderson (Posted on 1/30/2018)

I decided I wanted to write about our top 10 favorite pieces of camping gear. Mark thought
I was nuts. He loves his gear, all of it, and has far more than 10 things. I made him choose 10 anyway. Our Kelly Kettle ranks right up there in the top 10, of the things we love most.

have the largest one but it's easy to carry compared to other methods of cooking boiling water or just to get some heat. I intend to get another couple and will also try the smaller version and another large one. Thanks for making them available. Review by John E. (Posted on 11/13/2017)

My situations are varied but the need is the same, hot water & a meal wherever I am. I chose the Kelly Kettle Base Camp in Stainless Steel for its robustness together with the hobo stove & pots. It's chucked into a campfire on Scout camps, taken on canoe trips and used for six weeks solid boiling water for washing up during the summer. It's large & heavier than a tiny gas stove so it doesn't come on hikes up Snowdon but when I take it on canoe trips or 'base camps' it has paid for itself many times over because I just grab a bunch of twigs and I am not using up expensive gas. I have had a kelly kettle for about 6 years now, ever since i saw one advertisement I was hooked.

Over 6 years this kettle has been on 5, 10 day remote canoe trips,... and a couple dozen long weekend canoe trips. It's great for group trips where everyone wants coffee in the morning quickly,.. we just keep the kettle going for a good half an hour and everyone can get their 2-3 cups of coffee in without waiting a ridiculous amount of time for water to boil, this also avoids using up precious and heavy gas cartridges. I usually don't take this kettle backpacking, but i always miss it!
Customer service is top notch if you have a problem with any components or replacement parts.

Love my Kelly Kettle!

The Kelly Kettle Basecamp in the Stainless Steel Version is very nice. It is very easy to handle and has a very good Quality. I used the Base Camp on Fishing Trips and Outdoor Trips. You can nearly everywhere use the BaseCamp and the process to boil water is very fast. In comparison with a Gas Cooker the Kettle BaseCamp were much faster. Thumbs Up for the Kelly Kettle BaseCamp. I was thoroughly impressed by the fact that I can boil a full kettle with two pages of newspaper or four envelopes. Unfortunately, I don't get to go camping much, since my lovely wife doesn't care for it, but that is something that has impressed me. Every once in a while I get a 'wild hair' and decide I need to try using the kettle again. I have one of your stainless steel kettles, and that thing is fantastic. On the positive, we've been Blessed with a little boy, and I suspect camping will once again be an option as he gets older.

I've been using my base camp kettle in the Malaysian jungles and camping on tropical islands for about 5 years.

I've been using my base camp kettle in the Malaysian jungles and camping on tropical islands for about 5 years. Not much chance of bringing in or sourcing commercial fuels easily plus all the weight involved considering that we need to boil up from various water sources 6-8 litres each per day as well as the inconvenience and time in building fires and keeping them going.
Getting the kettle really changed the dynamics of logistics! Conversely, the shape and build of the kettle also allows the boiled water to cool down quickly to fill up canteens, especially since it can be easily immersed in a water source. With the new accessories, it keeps getting better (I had to hold the pan over the chimney before the pot support came out) and the hobo stove completes it.
Plus factor - kids get to use the left over embers in the base to polish off a break with toasted marshmallows, which don't burn, as a bribe!

Despite the size, the kettle is a better pack item.

We often take others on our little outings and they are always impressed with what can be done with the (Kelly) Kettle. The biggest selling feature is the low environmental impact it has. We usually gather lichen, birch bark, horseshoe fungus and twigs along the path and very little is left after cooking the meal - most of which can be safely extinguished with the water in the kettle. Great product!

For years we took little camp stoves with us and occasionally either lost knuckle hair lighting them or soaked the odd pack with the fluid. Despite the size, the kettle is a better pack item.

I live near the Rockies in BC.
Day trips, week trips, backpacking, 4x4ing, anything back country.
Fast, and simple. Boil water fast, cool it down fast for your canteen, or washing. Great combination with the Hobo stove and pot support. Easy, fast cleanup and storage.
Heat your water, while prepping your freeze dried food. So simple, so efficient.
The envy of my friends.

Packaging awesome very good indeed
